When you're facing a difficult diagnosis, the opportunity you have is to learn and understand from a bird’s eye view. You can, with practice, learn to control your response and manage your mindset.
When you’re struggling with a disease, and when you've gone through breast cancer, you are not the same person as you used to be. You are a new version of you. There are new pieces to you. It’s a new puzzle.
If you have a heartbeat, you still have a purpose in life. It may even be that what you've experienced has had a meaningful impact on someone else.
When you realize you have an expiration date, you also recognize a need for a change. You have to go through a series of steps to become more aware of your authentic self and help you get to the purpose you feel in your heart.
What Cindy wished she’d known about going through treatment:
- How to be open & honest with family members about her diagnosis
- Not to feel guilty about what she couldn't do.
- You need time & space to heal.
- Recovery is a very long process.
After breast cancer she realized:
- My body will never be the same.
- There are many changes that you experience in your body and mind that require honesty with others around you.
